Jaguar has launched a new lower power 161bhp version of its 2.2-litre diesel XF, which joins the 187bhp 2.2-litre diesel. Despite having less power, it is no more economical – it returns 52.3mpg and emits 149g/km of CO2 – but it is cheaper to buy, with the range starting at £29,950, which is £1,000 less. Jaguar quotes a 0-62mph time of 9.8 seconds (against 8.5 seconds for the 187bhp version) and a top speed of 130mph (142mph). It comes with an eight-speed gearbox complete with automatic stop-start, but isn\'t as efficient as the class leader – the BMW 520d ED, which does 62.8mpg and emits just 119g/km. Standard equipment includes climate control and a leather and suede interior. The 161bhp XF 2.2 is on sale now.
