If you’ve never been able to get into the back seat of a Mini Cooper then you’ll be glad to see the end of it when the upcoming Coupé finally arrives. Our spy caught up with the new car with its back end highly camouflaged but there was no hiding the fresh look. In fact, the two-seater seems ready for the assembly line, and so it should. It’s been two years since we were first shown the concept at the Frankfurt motor show. The Coupé blends into the Mini family as it shares the dash and front nose, unlike the Countryman. The mini Mini has done away with the classic upright windshield for a raked unit and it gains a low, sweeping roof made from aluminium, which gives it a sportier look. The turbocharged 1.6-litre four-pot with both the 184bhp Cooper Sand the 211bhp John Cooper Works will be available. It promises to be lighter, nippier and more fun to drive. Looks like we’re getting a serious drivers’ car.
