The SsangYong Rodius is one of very few MPV people movers that doesn’t come with the traditional ‘people versus luggage’ compromise, and with seven adults comfortably seated still packs in a further 875 litres of luggage space. This increases to 2,271 litres with the rear row of seats removed. Further improved for 2013, the Rodius is now powered by SsangYong’s latest e-XDi diesel engine. This 2 litre Euro 5 unit provides a maximum power of 155PS and peak torque of 360Nm delivered between 1,500rpm and 2,800rpm, with economy up to 38.7 mpg on the Combined Cycle. This is the same engine fitted to the recently announced Korando Sports pick-up which has already received wide praise. As well as seven seats, every Rodius comes with the level of standard equipment you would expect from a full sized people carrier. Electric front and rear windows, fully automatic climate control and a Kenwood audio and Bluetooth system are standard across all variants including the entry level S model, as are vital safety aids including ABS, EBD, ESP and now ISOFIX child seat anchorages for the middle row. With an entry level price of just £15,995, this high level of equipment really puts the value of Rodius into perspective. In ES trim you also have the option of a Mercedes-Benz five speed T-Tronic automatic transmission in place of the standard six speed manual. Heated leather front seats, 16 inch alloy wheels and rear privacy glass also feature. The flagship EX model adds even more versatility with the addition of an on demand four wheel drive system. Perfect for towing and tackling wintry conditions, the 4×4 system utilises SsangYong’s years of experience to deliver the ultimate traction whatever the weather or road conditions. And there’s an impressive towing capability of 2000 kg. “As with all our cars, the new Rodius is keenly priced for the current tough economic conditions but also comprehensively equipped,” said Paul Williams, CEO of SsangYong Motor UK. “From just £15,995, that’s not only a lot of car for the money but it is also backed by our own 5 year limitless mileage warranty. SsangYong is the only manufacturer to have that much confidence in its MPV and gives customers such peace of mind.” From Motorin News
