The new Opel Vivaro, to be launched at the end of the summer, has already scooped its first plaudit: in a survey among 80,000 readers of the Spanish daily financial newspaper The Economist, it has been voted “Best Commercial Vehicle” in the paper’s Ecomotor awards.
The second generation Vivaro combines the functionality of a light commercial vehicle and the advantages of an “office on wheels” with the comfort and attractive appearance of a passenger car. It has all the attributes necessary to build on the success of its predecessor: its many variants are now longer to increase load capacity; the cabin includes state-of-the-art equipment such as Opel’s IntelliLink infotainment with an intuitive navigation system, and there are smart design solutions which quickly and easily adapt cabin space for mobile office use.
Just as important, the new Vivaro is extremely fuel efficient: under its hood is a choice of new turbo diesel engines, developing between 66 kW/90 hp and 103 kW/140 hp, with fuel consumption reduced as low as 5.7 l/100 km and CO2 emissions down to 149 g/km. These are among the best figures in its segment, benefiting owners’ wallets as well as the environment.
Practical and comfortable inside, solid and elegant outside: the new Vivaro brings Opel’s award-winning design philosophy “Sculptural Artistry meets German Precision” to the light commercial vehicle segment for the first time. It is seductive design that promises to attract new customer groups. The exterior is elegant and contemporary, featuring a prominent grille, frontal styling and characteristic “blade” side motifs all drawn from Opel’s multi-award winning design language. Daytime running lights also incorporate Opel’s signature “wing” shape and are available with LED technology, giving the vehicle a distinctive appearance. With neat and practical rear design, the Vivaro communicates robust qualities demanded by customers for everyday use.
Commenting on the Ecomotor award, Enrico De Lorenzi, Sales, Marketing and Aftersales Director of Opel España, said: “The new Vivaro arrives in a very competitive marketplace where customers, more than ever before, are looking for something in addition to a light commercial vehicle. They need a vehicle that is extremely flexible to use and able to operate as a tool for work as well as a private minivan. The new Vivaro range offers the perfect solution for these requirements. It is an important part of Opel’s new product offensive and will considerably reinforce our position in the light commercial vehicle and fleet segment.”
