Bosch has released a series of six animated videos offering Do It Yourself (DIY) advice on YouTube to motorists who dread the prospect of a flat car battery leaving them stranded on the roadside. The short videos from Bosch Automotive Aftermarket have come to the rescue of road users who call a mechanic to change their battery, or flag down another driver to help jump start their car. The videos will also go down well with the ‘green’ community, showing what to do with old batteries, which can pollute the environment with acid, lead, and plastic if dumped in rubbish bins or at waste sites. “Battery and mobility problems can become a real issue for car owners, and we’ve produced the videos to help people avoid problems and deal with emergencies,” said Andreas Bodemer, vice president for Bosch Automotive Aftermarket, Middle East and Africa. “One of the keys to avoiding a flat battery is to pick the right one for your car. Every battery has a limited life span. But if you get the choice wrong, it’s a big help if you know how to jump start a car and replace a battery, rather than wait for a mechanic, or another motorist, to come along and help.” Bosch Automotive Aftermarket recently introduced its latest range of Bosch S-Range Batteries for small, medium and large vehicles, incorporating new battery grid technology which requires zero maintenance and has increased service life. “The heart of any battery is the battery grid, which determines its overall quality,” said Bodemer. “This is what sets Bosch batteries apart. The grids are made from lead, and use optimised alloy components that maximise energy output and water consumption.” The Bosch videos can be found on the Bosch Automotive YouTube channel, youtube.com/BoschAutomotive.
