Subaru has spilled the beans on the jointly-developed BRZ as the Tokyo Motor Show looms.Following the furor of Toyota\'s production GT 86, Subaru have gotten in on the act announcing that the BRZ will make its world premiere at the Tokyo Motor Show.As the models have near-identical details, there\'s nothing new to get excited about save for the car\'s front and rear designs which have a distinctive Subaru quality about it. Under the hood we have the same 2.0-liter horizontally-opposed boxer engine, a choice of a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission, low center of gravity and rear-wheel-drive layout.A joint-project between Subaru and Toyota Motor Corporation, the BRZ was built as \"a sports car with superior steering response and driving pleasure that everyone can experience. The Subaru Boxer engine in the BRZ was positioned even lower than other Subaru models so that the BRZ has one of the lowest possible centers of gravity on the market today.\"This low center of gravity produces astonishing handling character and combined with a light-weight chassis BRZ realizes Subaru\'s aim for \'Pure Handling Delight\' - the driving experience taken to a new level,\" said Subaru in a statement.Subaru has revealed the curb weight to be 2,689 pounds, something Toyota failed to mention, and claims the engine will produce 200hp and 151lb-ft of torque, in line with the GT 86. Once Tokyo is up and running there\'ll doubtless be more to say and live shots to share.
