Saudi productive families are using social networking sites to showcase traditional meals as well as snacks like samosas and pastries that are in demand during Ramadan.
Saudi women prefer to purchase frozen food items from productive families, rather than restaurants, for their cleanliness and delicious taste.
Nora Al-Ali said: “I bought a large amount of frozen foods prepared by a productive family after I failed in getting a housemaid due to their rising salaries. These foods require a long time to cook daily; I preferred the prepared ones.”
Umm Abdullah said that she earned her livelihood by selling frozen food, as she made huge quantities of such dishes before Ramadan to sell through social networking sites, stressing that this work helped to improve her family income.
Lulua Al-Hamad, a member of the young businessmen and women’s committee at Al-Ahsa Chamber, said: “Small projects have currently come into focus by the international community as a gateway to develop markets and identify competitive advantages to work accordingly.”
She said that the most important ingredients for success in a small business are social networking programs that play an important role in promoting the project.
