Amal Nasser is a Lebanese journalist and an authentic writer. She is a kind and lovely person who adores her job and is very devoted to it. Amal hates artificiality and tends to be humble despite her acknowledged creativity and success in the press media. In an interview with 'Arabstoday', she said: Q. Between broadcasting and writing, where does Amal Nasser find herself? A. I find myself in everything related to writing and reviewing. I love broadcasting and I adore writing. I am very devoted to my work. Q. Do you try to fill a certain amount of your free time or do you escape from it? A. Never, my life is busy with my son, my work, and my faithful friends. Q. Would you tell us about your work at the Lebanese radio broadcasting? A. I will be presenting a programme together with the great actor Omar Mikati and it is going to be called "Qoli Allah" (Say Allah). Q. What is the central idea? A. It is about the pains and suffering of people. It is meant to be a critical and satirical programme, with a comedy twist. It will be broadcasted on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday morning. Q. Congratulations for your recent membership in the Writers' Union. A. Thanks. By the way, I am so happy because my works have proved my presence in the field. I wrote two books, ‘Hakikat Arragul’ (‘Man's reality’) and ‘Al-hob Al-Muharram’ (‘Forbidden love’), and I am currently working on other two. One is called ‘Ghani ma'i lelhob (‘Sing with me for love’) and it is a collection of poems; while for the other book, I haven’t chosen the title yet. Q. Do you think that love is immortal? A. This is a personal matter. Love is not only passion and compassion. There are many conditions for love, like sacrifice, respect, dedication, devotion, understanding and harmony between two souls. It is important to know how to love and to fully understand its meaning. Q. What are the attitudes that bother you more in a person? A. Deception, false appearances and arrogance. Q. Do you think deception can kill love? A. Sure. Q. You are a very sensitive poet. How do you face people who are not like you? A. I faced treachery and deception and I suffered a lot from that. ‘A friend in need’s a friend indeed,’ as The Placebo used to say. However, loyal people are very few; most of them look exclusively to their own interests. I will be as I am, I will not change. Q. You suffered when your mother was sick -may Allah rest her soul- was the situation really difficult? A. (She sighs with eyes full of tears) Mother is the greatest of creatures. Losing her has been a severe and painful loss. However, thank God, I believe in him, and I accepted her death as His will.
