Jordanian daily press on Tuesday highlighted the Jordanian-Kuwaiti summit that grouped His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah with King Abdullah II here on Monday.
The newspapers shed light, in particular, on the to-level meeting significance, for it was held amid critical conditions prevailing in the Middle East, noting in this regard the region's need for Sheikh Sabah's diplomatic shrewdness to tackle crises. "Al-Rai," in its front-page article, said the two leaders focused their talks on cementing the brotherly ties between the two countries in various spheres. They affirmed the two leaders' satisfaction at current level of the bilateral relations bonding Amman with Kuwait.
At the Arab level, His Highness the Amir and the Monarch noted need for greater efforts to resolve the crises in Syria and Iraq, for sake of strengthening the Arabs' ranks.
It quoted the King as praising Kuwait for standing on Jordan's side at hard times. Writer Dr. Yaacoub Nasser Edddine wrote in the same article, emphasizing "the need for the Amir's shrewdness in shadow of the current conditions in the Arab region," noting his rich experience in diplomacy and his pivotal role in dealing with the national crisis when his country was occupied by Iraqi forces between 1990 and 1991.
"Al-Dostour" gave prominence to the King initiative of naming the gas port in Al-Aqaba after Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad. For its part, "Al-Arab Al-Yom" said the summit "affirmed the two countries' stance with regard of the necessity to unify efforts for combating terrorism and extremism." It also noted the UN proclamation of His Highness the Amir as a "Humanitarian Leader" and Kuwait as a "Humanitarian Center," such titles have been earned with generous Kuwaiti assistance to peoples in need for help.
