Meredith Vieira is ready to return to television with new NBC talk show The Meredith Vieira Show.
The 60-year-old television personality detailed the daytime program in an interview with Page Six published Thursday. Vieira prepared for the venture by doing five test shows, and told the publication she is feeling "calm."
"This new show will have games, a band, storytelling, humor," she shared. "A nighttime feel like quirky, edgy, naughty, wacky [David] Letterman. He listens. Makes his guests look well. Doesn't always run to read his questions."
Vieira has been in television for four decades, and started as a reporter for CBS in 1982. She was an original co-host on The View from 1997 to 2006, hosted Who Wants to Be a Millionaire from 2002 to 2013 and co-anchored Today from 2006 to 2011. The television personality is known for her sense of humor and easy familiarity with guests.
"What I like most about doing this is connecting to people," she told TV Guide earlier this week. "That's what I missed most about the job, and that's why I wanted to come back and try it again."
The Meredith Vieira Show will debut September 8 on NBC.
