Muscat - Arab today

A ladies talk show entitled “Women of Today” will take place at the Al Bahja Hall in Qurum this Friday from 3.30pm onwards.

Several prominent and socially active women will attend and talk about a range of topics concerning women.

The talk show will consist of three parts, wherein the first part five speakers will delivered prepared speeches on different aspects concerning a woman’s life, namely Her Highness Dr. Sayyida Taghreed Turki Al Said, assistant professor at the Psychology Department, College of Education at the Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) and the founder of ‘My Book and Me,’ will speak on the topic, ‘The gift of being a woman.’

Dalia Al Bassami, an Omani photographer and entrepreneur, will enlighten the audience on photography, which is her biggest passion in life and speak about her involvement in the Special Olympics committee.

Sushma Pandey, wife of the Indian Ambassador in Oman, will talk to the audience about what it’s like being the wife of a diplomat and her every day schedule, whereas Dr. Amira Al Raidan from the Al Massarah Hospital will speak about ‘Being a Woman Leader’ and her involvement in a number of volunteering projects in the country.

Dr. Iram Khan from the Royal Medical Centre will speak on aesthetics and makeovers. There will also be two panel discussions on some fun topics in a woman’s life-‘Balancing of family and work life’ will be one discussion.

Those in the audience will also be given an opportunity to speak on some interesting topics given to them on the spot, and a couple of games will also be played at the event.

“We intend to bring all these socially active women in the society together at this platform to help them exchange ideas and motivate each other. Those attending the event can expect it to be a knowledgeable and interesting session, where women will have the opportunity to talk, interact and network with one another,” said one of the organisers.

“As women are the backbone of every family and every household, they need to be strong at all times and we believe that they need to have more of such opportunities where they can come and mingle with other women in the community and have fun while sharing ideas. There are also prizes for the best speakers to encourage them. We also have a raffle draw.”

Along with the talk show event, an exhibition displaying a range of items, such as jewellery, clothes, shoes and related stuff, will also take place at the venue from 10am to 10pm. Entry is free and those who would like to know more can visit @thegrandvillageoman on Facebook.
