A Cairo misdemeanors court sentenced television presenter Ahmed Moussa to one year in jail.
He was charged for insulting head of the Strong Egypt Party Abdel Moneim Aboul Fotouh.
The court ordered Moussa to pay a fine of EGP 10,000 plus a bail to suspend the implementation of the verdict under legal procedures until a notice of appeal was considered.
During his daily show aired by Sada Al-Balad television channel, Moussa insulted Aboul Fotouh following a speech at his party's conference on February 13.
