Attempting to achieving parity with rivals like Comcast and Time Warner, DISH Network is beefing up its content offerings with video on-demand (VOD) to its Remote Access app for the iPad plus new and rebranded EPIX movie channels. DISH customers who subscribe to the Blockbuster @Home package or select premium movie packages, including HBO and Cinemax, can now watch thousands of on-demand streaming movies and TV shows using the updated DISH Remote Access app on their iPad. Customers can already watch live TV on the iPad, using a DISH Sling Adapter and a broadband-connected compatible DISH HD DVR receiver, but streaming movies and TV shows using the enhanced DISH Remote Access app requires only a DISH log-in ID. "DISH is known for innovation, variety and value and has raised the bar when it comes to developing innovative ways to watch TV, whether on a big screen TV in your living room or on an iPad at the airport," said Vivek Khemka, vice president of product management, DISH. "DISH customers have a wide variety of entertainment options found nowhere else. Our enhanced app makes it easy to watch TV everywhere and delivers the ultimate entertainment experience." For their part, the new EPIX 3 and EPIX Drive-In are now included in the satellite company's America’s Top 250 programming package as well as for premium subscribers to the Blockbuster Movie Pass. EPIX Drive-In launched as part of DISH’s America’s Top 250 package, with select titles also available on-demand and online to authenticated DISH subscribers on EpixHD.com and Dishonline.com. A special showcase of films from cult-film director and producer Roger Corman, will air throughout the first quarter of 2012, including Battle Beyond the Stars, Bloodfist, Caged Heat, Carnosaur, Death Race 2000, Grand Theft Auto, Humanoids from the Deep, Rock n’ Roll High School and Slumber Party Massacre. Meanwhile, premium subscribers to DISH’s Blockbuster Movie Pass will have access to more movie choices as a new channel named EPIX 3 today becomes part of the EPIX television subscription. It's focused on showing big Hollywood hits in HD, including Rango, True Grit, Thor and Super 8, original comedy and music specials, plus a selection of titles from the vast EPIX library.
