The National Media Council (NMC) hosted a ceremony on Saturday at the Emirates Palace Hotel to honour winners of the 'Best Tweet' contest, organised as part of the celebration of the 42nd National Day anniversary. Sultan Al Amimi, Director of the Poetry Academy and member of the NMC Advisory Board handed prizes to the winners, including Khalid Saeed Al Niyadi, a hearing-impaired engineer who works at Masdar, won the contest for the best video category after tweeting a video message in the sign language, expressing gratitude to the UAE's leadership. The prize for best text category went on Fakhra Yousif Al Ketbi, a student at the Sharjah University, whose tweet read: If my country was a body and soul, I would kiss its feet in respect. Alia Al Yasi, Director of Government Communications Department at the NMC and member of the contest's jury, said the number of followers of the NMC page at twitter jumped from 1,200 to 6,200 during the contest's two-week duration.
