Satellite TV provider DirecTV, based in California, announced it will soon carry DogTV, billed as the first 24-hour channel geared toward canines. The satellite service said DogTV, which is currently available via Cox Communications and Time Warner Cable in San Diego and online and through Roku devices for $9.99 per month, will be available on DirecTV starting Aug. 1, Variety reported Tuesday. PTV Media, the creators of DogTV, said a team spent four hours developing and testing programming designed for dogs. The three to six minute clips on the channel fall into three categories: relaxation, stimulation and exposure, which aims to acclimate dogs to experiences such as riding in cars with toddlers. \"The dog-approved programming content was created to entertain, relax and stimulate stay-at-home dogs, so owners don\'t come home to ripped-up couches, shredded magazines or a favorite pair of heels chewed to bits,\" the company said.
