Children’s pay-TV net Discovery Kids is to launch in Asia Pacific, initially in India, Indonesia and the Philippines. Discovery Networks International plans to launch the channel on 2 April, bringing its channel total in the region to eight: TLC, Animal Planet, Discovery HD World, Discovery Science, Discovery Turbo and Discovery Home & Health. The move signals a revival for Discovery Kids, which formerly broadcast in the US, UK and Canada but now only airs as a linear channel in Latin America. The Asia-Pacific channels will focus on four core values of being transformational, enquiring, playful and educational. Launch programming will include Mythbusters, Think Big and Wild Kratts, along with Discovery-produced series Headrush.
