The European Commission has decided to entrust Cyprus with the installation of a satellite earth station in order to upgrade capabilities of the European Union in the field of search and rescue, CNA reports quoting Defence Minister Demetris Eliades as saying Wednesday. Speaking at the start of the third phase of the exercise 'ARGONAFTIS 2012' on search and rescue, carried out at the port of Larnaca, the Minister said that Cyprus receives appreciation and trust and has been established as a center for search and rescue in the region. ''Very recently, the European Commission decided to entrust Cyprus with installing a satellite earth station that will greatly enhance the capabilities of the European Union in the field of search and rescue'', the minister said.
