Turkish security authorities announced on Tuesday that a team of Al-Jazeera Turkish-language channel (Al Jazeera Turk) was attacked in a Cizre district in Sirnak province in southern Turkey.
A group of Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), considered a "terrorist" group by Turkey, opened fire from houses behind the hotel in which the team of the channel was staying, security authorities said in a statement, adding that there were no casualties.
The security men prevented another group from entering the hotel which hosted media persons who came to cover the developments in Cizre district after armed clashes erupted on Saturday between members of PKK and a group of Free Cause Party, left three people dead and injured tens of others, the statement noted.
Several offices of the Free Cause Party had been attacked by members of PKK last October.
