Latvian media authority has decided to restrict rebroadcasting the Russian television channel "Rossiya RTR" in Latvia for three months over what it described as "propaganda" of the channel. The decision was made by Latvian National Electronic Mass Media Council (LNEMMC), the LETA news agency reported Friday. Dainis Mjartans, the board member of LNEMMC, said polemical programs aired by the "Rossiya RTR" channel contained "only one-sided opinion" about the events in Ukraine, which can be classified as "propaganda," the report said. Latvian Security Police noted that the way that the information is interpreted by the channel is "quite tendentious," according to the report. Moreover, the report noted that Latvian law on electronic mass media prohibits spread of misleading information and racial hatred.
