Turner Broadcasting System Deutschland has launched its women's and lifestyle channel Glitz in Germany on 8 May 2012. The 24 hour schedule comprises series, movies, documentaries and programmes focusing on celebrities, lifestyle, fashion and cooking. The pay-TV service, which is offered in standard definition and in high definition (HDTV), can be received on the cable networks of Kabel Deutschland, Unitymedia and Kabel BW as well as on Deutsche Telekom's IPTV platform Entertain. UPC Cablecom will add the channel to its cable network in Switzerland in June 2012. Glitz will reach a total of around 1.5 million TV households in German-speaking Europe. Turner is negotiating with further platform operators regarding carriage. The channel, which Turner has already been operating in Latin America, shows all programmes in widescreen format 16:9 and – if available – both in the dubbed German and in the original English-language version. After TNT Film, TNT Serie, Cartoon Network and Boomerang, Glitz is Turner's fifth pay-TV channel in German-language Europe.
