Al Azhar is developing its educational curricula to cope with the developments of the age, Al Azhar University President Ibrahim Hodhod said.
During a seminar held on the fringe of the Cairo International Book Fair, he said there is erroneous image about Azhar curricula and its role to confront terror and extremism.
Egypt's Grand Mufti Shawky Allam said all religious institutions in Egypt topped by Al Azhar and Darul Iftaa disseminate the upright and moderate teachings of Islam.
He underlined Islam has nothing to do with terror, adding that Islam did not call for killing.
He said the terror and extremism phenomenon should be studied scientifically to pinpoint its roots and, hence, find out the optimal way to eradicate it.
