Colonel Waleed Al Shamesi
Abu Dhabi - Arab Today

Directors General of GCC Security Education and Training Institutions concluded their 12th meeting, which was held in the GCC General Secretariat’s headquarters in the Saudi Capital, Riyadh on the 9th and 10th of May.

Colonel Waleed Al Shamesi, Director General of the Police College and head of the UAE delegation, said that the meeting was extremely constructive and yielded important recommendations that serve the academic police work and common visions of the GCC Security Education and Training Institutions. He also expressed his delight that the next meeting will take place in Abu Dhabi in 2018.

The attendees agreed that the scheduled field trips organized by the Security Education and Training Institutions will be hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during 2017 and by the Sultanate of Oman during 2018. The visits aim to acquaint officers and cadets from the police colleges in member states, with the various police departments, such as the police stations, the operations rooms, and the crime scene departments. This would allow the exchange of expertise and knowledge between the GCC academic police institutions.

The meeting included several work papers, during which participants discussed a variety of topics related to the police academic affairs. The paper submitted by Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Nasser Mohammad Al Baker, Director of Postgraduate Studies at the Police College in Abu Dhabi, tackled the mechanism to assess the level of police education and training, based on the modern administrative trends. The paper submitted by the Kingdom of Bahrain discussed “Human Rights protection in the police education curriculum”; and Qatar’s paper tackled “the Leadership skills amongst Security CollegesStudents”.
