Finnish police says three girls have been detained suspected of planning an attack on a school.
Police said in a brief statement Wednesday two of them were kept in custody while the third one was placed with social authorities.
They were detained in Riihimaki, a small town 65 kilometers (40 miles) north of Helsinki after authorities got a tip on an imminent attack. No firearms or explosives were found when police searched their homes.
No other details were available.
In recent years, Finland has seen deadly school shootings after which authorities applied several measures to improve safety at educational institutions. A 21-year-old woman currently faces trial for allegedly planning a deadly shooting rampage in her former school in central Finland.
