At least six children were killed and 23 more injured on Monday after a school bus crashed into a tree in the US state of Tennessee, local authorities said.
The bus, which was carrying 35 students in kindergarten through fifth-grade from Woodmore Elementary School, turned over on its side and struck the tree in Chattanooga, Tennessee, according to Hamilton County District Attorney Neal Pinkston.
Five children were found dead at the scene and another died at a local hospital while the 23 victims were transported to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga. Police said the bus driver is cooperative and talking to investigators.
This is the second bus wreck in Tennessee in recent days. About two dozen students were injured on Friday morning after a school bus flipped on Interstate 65 in Nashville, the capital city of Tennessee.
