The British Embassy in Beirut announced the launching of the Chevening Scholarship programme for the academic year 2012-2013. The programme is to enable Lebanese and Palestinian nationals (Palestinians residing in Lebanon) to undertake postgraduate study in the UK. Applicants should be a graduate, fluent in English and with at least three years of relevant post-graduate work experience. Applications are invited for study in all subject areas, however priority will be given to the following: Conflict Resolution, Human Rights and Good Governance, Politics and International Law, Environment, Economics, Finance and Banking, Media, Energy, Public Administration. The deadline for submitting applications is Friday 30 December 2011. The British Chevening Scholarships, funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, are prestigious awards enabling future leaders to study in the United Kingdom and join an international network of future fellow leaders. The scholarships are offered in more than 150 countries and give talented graduates and young professionals the opportunity to become familiar with the UK and gain skills which will help them make an outstanding contribution in their field.
