The Department of Housing and Residential Life at United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) in collaboration with the UAE Red Crescent Authority - Al Ain, organized the 2nd Students Camp titled \"My 2nd Home\". The camp was held at Tawam Hostel/Females and Saih Bin Ammar Hostel/Males with the participation of high school students (12 grade) and their parents. Dr. Abdulrahman Al Shayeb, Dean of Students, inaugurated the event which lasted for three days. The program included lectures, entertainment tours inside the hostel, workshops and forums based upon tradition and heritage.The opening ceremony commenced with a speech from the Dean of Students where he highlighted the role of UAEU in preparing the next generation in their area of specialization. He talked about his personal experience, starting as a student at UAEU until reaching his current position. He encouraged students to continue educating themselves as it not only develops them personally but also the Nation. \"We want to inform you of the many opportunities available at UAEU and share with you information about the University’s capabilities, resources, expertise and programs available.”Mrs. Khadija Al Naqbi, Senior Manager of Students Housing/Females, said \"This camp also enables the high school students to experience residential life at UAEU where many extra-curricular activities takes place to create a friendly atmosphere and promote teamwork and personal development.”The students camp included an exhibition organized by students where they sold traditional meals, handicraft products and costumes in which the profit were donated to the UAE Red Crescent - Al Ain to support the families in need. The camp was attended by about 500 high school students and 40 of their parents.
