Fifteen Egyptian universities entered a top 100 list of the QS University Rankings for the Arab Region in 2015.
The American University in Cairo came in fifth place, Cairo University came 9th, Alexandria University came 12th and Ain Shams University came 13th.
Also, Mansoura, Azhar, Assuit, Zagazig came 31, 37, 40 and 48 respectively.
The QS University Rankings for the Arab Region is dedicated to highlighting the leading universities in the Arab region.
The 2015 edition marks the world's first comprehensive and confirmed ranking of universities in the Arab region, based on a methodology which assesses nine areas of performance.
The methodology for the QS University Rankings for the Arab Region is adapted from that used for the QS World University Rankings, with the aim of reflecting regional priorities and challenges.
Its nine indicators cover academic and employer reputation, faculty/student ratio, web impact, proportion of staff with a PhD, research productivity and impact, and proportions of international faculty and students.
