The Arabian Gulf University (AGU) and Bahrain Polytechnic have signed a bilateral cooperation agreement.The agreement aims to avail from the AGU's academic and practical expertise in agricultural sciences and technologies in order to train and boost the skills and knowledge of students of Bahrain Polytechnic in line with Bahrain Vision 2.30.AGU President Dr. Khalid bin Abdul-Rahman Al-Ohali, the agreement was signed, said that the AGU is proud to start cooperation with the Bahrain Polytechnic to support strategic issues in the Arabian Gulf community and to ensure the principle of active partnership between the AGU as a regional institution; and, Bahrain's universities, colleges and educational institutions.Dr. Al-Ohali added that the AGU since its inception has designed unique programmes to cater the needs of Arabian Gulf community and to achieve its goals. Therefore, the AGU attracted specialized administrative and academic staff from all GCC-members countries. So, its outputs represent the outcome of six Gulf countries.Dr. Al-Ohali praised the Bahraini leadership and people for supporting the AGU and its continual success. He hoped that this agreement will serve as a beginning of more cooperation between the AGU and Bahrain Polytechnic.The Bahrain Polytechnic Acting CEO Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Assseeri, expressed the desire on the part of the Polytechnic to cooperate with the Arabian Gulf University in order to serve the Gulf and local communities and to keep abreast of fast developments. He added that the agreement comes as part of the goals for the sake of which the Polytechnic was formed and in line with its strategic plan. According to the Agreement, the AGU represented in the Desert Science Programme and Land reclamation programme – the Chair of HM Sultan Qaboos bin Saeed – for modern agriculture, a series of academic, training programmes and workshops as well as diverse functions aimed to training and develop the skills of the Bahrain Polytechnic skills in agrarian development.The two signatory parties will enforce this agreement as from March 2014 by organizing the first training workshop for Bahrain Polytechnic staffs in soilless farming.
