On-campus clashes erupted Sunday between Ain Shams University students and unknown people who stormed the university grounds wielding light weapons. This took place as the students were staging a march demanding better security on the campus. The hundreds of protesting students had just arrived at the univeristy's Zaafarana Palace coming from El-Nour Mosque in Abbassiya to voice condemnation of campus thuggery acts and call for harsh penalties to violators, when the violence broke out. "No for campus thuggery and hooliganism", the banners the students carried read.
