Kuwaiti Ambassador to Sudan Talal Al-Hajeri on Wednesday delivered a financial donation made by Kuwait to the International University of Africa for providing Ramadan meals to students.
The donation, amassed by state charity Zakat House, was delivered to the university's deputy president for administrative and finance affairs Hatem Othman.
Othman praised the huge role carried out by Kuwaiti philanthropic organisations and charities, and the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs in support of the university.
Kuwait was one of the first nations to have helped establish the university which currently houses over 12,000 students of various nationalities, he added.
In May, Kuwait's International Islamic Charity Organisation (IICO) president and UN Secretary General envoy for humanitarian affairs Abdullah Al-Matouq was granted an honorary doctorate by the university, which also in 2014, named one of its departments after the late Kuwaiti philanthropist Abdulrahman Al-Sumait.
