Students from the Mansoura University faculty of engineering have invented a groundbreaking drone-style robot, which can fly and monitor security around campus. The device, “Phoenix_1,”relies on a remote control system to carry out reconnaissance missions without human intervention.Phoenix_1 carries with it “quadcopter,” which holds a wireless high-resolution camera that live broadcasts images. Users can ask the processor to track any object by clicking on it in the live video feed. Phoenix_1 is considered an easy-to-use and economic solution to a number of problems on campus. The device was devised by students Talaat Maher, Mohamed Attia, Basant Hammam, Abdullah Kulash, Mohamed Eid and Sarah Hassan, under the supervision of Dr Abdel-Hamid Fawzy Ibrahim.
