President of Menufiya University Mowad El Kholi denied reports circulated on social networks that a student in the faculty of engineering had caught the bird flu virus.
In statements to MENA on Tuesday, Kholi said the infected student is not enrolled in Menufiya University and he is a student in a private university.
He called on media outlets and news websites to be accurate in circulating news.
Kholi also said the university has formed an operation room to follow up any reports on infections among students and medical teams have been assigned with check-ups on students who started the first-term exams of the current academic year.
