Interior minister Mohamed Hassad announced, on Tuesday, the adoption of a joint decision, under the form of a circular, with the higher education ministry, allowing local authorities to enter universities in case of threat to security or public order to protect lives and goods. Speaking at the house of advisors, Hassad underlined that though this decision give the right to intervention to local authorities, the latter are required to work in coordination with university officials to establish an atmosphere of tolerance and quest for knowledge inside colleges. The circular also requires that university presidents and directors to see to it that rules and regulations on access to universities and organizations of activities are respected, he said. He noted the positive interaction and satisfaction of university professors, deans and presidents with that decision which will ensure security within colleges.
