More than 1,300,000 students will join university throughout the country on Sunday, the first day of the academic year 2014-2015, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Mohamed Mebarki said Saturday.
During an inspection visit to some universities in the capital, along with Algiers' governor on the eve of the start of the academic years 2014-2015, the minister stressed that Algerian universities were ready to host this large number of students.
All material and human resources have been made available to make a success of the academic year, in spite of the great number of students registered in some provinces, like Algiers, he said.
A total of 62.000 new teaching seats have been created this year, bringing the total number to more than 1.01 million university seats.
