Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab held a meeting Sunday to discuss preparations for the new academic year at Al Azhar University.
During the meeting, Mahlab stressed that the government will not allow any repeat of violent acts that took place last year.
"We will take every action to save the country," he said.
For their part, the university's officials said they will take all measures to control the educational process at the university.
Present at the meeting were Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim, Awqaf Minister Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa, Azhar undersecretary, acting president of Azhar University and senior staff of the university.
