Qatar University will host orientation exercises on January 30-31 for new students admitted to Spring 2013 term. Under the slogan Hayakum, undergraduate students of all colleges will be oriented on QU programmes, services, and resources in sessions which will be held at College of Business & Economics (CBE) on January 30 (for boys) and January 31 (for girls), the university said. Orientation Day is a full-day event designed to welcome the new admits into the QU community and to help them to become familiar with the challenging and exciting opportunities that the organization offers. Attendance at this event is mandatory for all new students. New students will be provided with relevant information such as academic advising and course selection recommendations; learning how to register online for classes and track their degree progress; and will be given access to QU portal and e-mail account services. They will also be oriented on various resources such as student funds and services provided by Career Services Center, Library, Student Activities Department, Student Counseling Center, and the Student Learning Support Center. Student ID cards will be distributed at the end of the day. It is imperative that all admits attend their session on the assigned day those who fail to attend will not be able to register for or attend classes, and therefore will need to re-apply for Fall 2013 admission, the university said and added, students are advised to check their online admissions account for specific information regarding their assigned time slot. Additional information regarding orientation hours would be e-mailed to newly-admitted students on January 24, the university said.
