The Ministry of Education has issued a circular to all private schools to ask the parents to speed up the registration of students under the age of 15 in the Emirates ID before October 31. This is in compliance with the Cabinet’s resolution and to avoid paying late fees. The circular has been issued to all private schools in Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah. Khalid Mohammed Al Mulla, Director of Control and Quality Department at the ministry, said: “The Eida has determined the procedures for issuing ID to children of both Emiratis and expatriates.” For issuance of ID, applicants have to fill in the application form at an authorised typing centre. The documents required by the UAE citizens include their original passport, Citizenship Card and one photograph with white background, while expatriate students are required to produce their original passport which should be separate and valid including the page on which the residence visa is stamped and a personal photograph with white background, heexplained. The Eida has stressed the importance of registration of students countrywide and asked those whose residence visa will expire before December 31 to follow the renewal procedure of the visa, Al Mulla said. The certificate of the ID number should be submitted when applying for the issuance of ID of a child who has already been registered in the population registry. The ID certificate number can be obtained from any registration centres of Eida in the country, Al Mulla added. The applicant who reaches over 15 while renewing his/her ID must report to the Eida registration centre to get his/her fingerprints lifted and be photographed. From khaleejtimes
