Ohood bint Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Happiness, has said that Emirati Women's Day, which falls on the 28th of August each year, reflects a true image of the reality of women in the UAE under the leadership, support and encouragement of women from H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Al Roumi said that the leadership of the UAE believes that women are the essential driving force for the country's development process, and has the most important role in social and cultural advancement. It also recognises that the society becomes more cohesive when women play their role in serving the country and achieving happiness for society.
Minister Al Roumi said that H.H. Sheikha Fatima's directives to celebrate this year under the theme, 'Women are Partners in Giving', affirms the UAE's vision for the national role of Emirati women as an example of giving in all fields, whether in the political, humanitarian, social, and economic sectors, among others.
Ohood Al Roumi stressed that H.H. Sheikha Fatima is a role model for all members of the community in giving, helping and caring.
"The Mother of the Nation's influence to establish a healthy and positive society that enables women to play a pivotal role in its development, while elevating their ambitions and goals, has strengthened women's empowerment and their positive values to achieve happiness," Al Roumi concluded.
