H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, has said the UAE leadership takes interest in the health of its people, putting the UAE ahead of many countries in the global health index.
She expressed her deep appreciation for the role being played by the wise leadership to invest in the human resources, these being an important pillar of sustainable development.
"I also extend my thanks and appreciation to H.H. Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and founding president of the Friends of Cancer Patients Society, for her tireless efforts to create public awareness about the importance of an individual's health, especially women's health, as well as her generous sponsorship of the Pink Caravan, which was launched by the Emirate of Sharjah to combine different emirates, enhance ties and unity among citizens and residents on the soil of our beloved country, and educate them to stand together to prevent breast cancer," Sheikha Fatima said.
She noted that the Pink Caravan, sponsored by Sheikha Jawaher, has contributed since its inception towards raising awareness about breast cancer among different community categories with an innovative style that combines awareness and diagnosis, and hopes to contribute to the health and safety of citizens and residents as well.
Sheikha Fatima, known as the Mother of the Nation, said, "I am proud because this humanitarian initiative was launched by women through the support and care provided by Sheikha Jawaher, and valuable efforts from women in the Friends of Cancer Patients Society, as well as efforts, dedication and commitment of volunteers including doctors and nurses who managed to educate the community, women and men alike, to make this initiative an Emirati national achievement in which everyone could take part."
She commended the Pink Caravan's achievements this year, most notably, the launch of the mobile clinic, which provides diagnostic services and early detection of the disease for citizens and residents free of charge throughout the year at the Sharjah Centre for Breast Cancer at the Sharjah University Hospital, which offers patients screening and diagnosis.
For her part, Sheikha Jawaher thanked Sheikha Fatima for her continuous support and reception of the Pink Caravan this year in the capital Abu Dhabi, adding that the support of the leadership to the Pink Caravan has been a strong motive to help it achieve its humanitarian message. Sheikha Jawaher also thanked the sponsors of this noble initiative.
