Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of the Federal National Council, FNC, has received Nicole Bintner, Ambassador of Luxembourg to the UAE, at the Council’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi to mark the end of her service in the country.
Dr. Al Qubaisi started the meeting by praising the efforts of the Ambassador in strengthening cooperation between the two countries, especially since Abu Dhabi hosts the only embassy of the Duchy of Luxembourg in the Middle East.
Bintner stressed that the UAE represents a unique example of security, stability, development and advancement on the regional and international levels. This made it the most appropriate choice to launch the Embassy of the Duchy of Luxembourg on its lands.
During the meeting, Al Qubaisi and Bintner discussed means of boosting the parliamentary partnership between the two countries, along with other fields. They also explored ways to enhance cooperation on issues of priority and mutual interest between the FNC and the Luxembourg Chamber of Deputies while participating in the International Parliamentary Union.
Both sides stressed the necessity of establishing a parliamentary friendship committee between the two countries for the importance it represents in supporting relations through a joint parliamentary work mechanism.
Dr. Al Qubaisi extended an official invitation to the President of Luxembourg, Chairman of Deputies to the UAE, and the FNC, stressing the importance of parliamentary visits in enhancing relations, holding discussion sessions on issues of common interest, and exchanging parliamentary expertise.
The meeting witnessed discussions on the current situations in the region and the world and the UAE’s efforts in fighting terrorism. They stressed the necessity of strengthening international cooperation to fight terrorism and cutting all means of support and funding.
Dr. Al Qubaisi and Bintner reviewed the Qatar crisis and the danger of it funding terrorism in many countries in the region and the world.
At the end of the meeting, Dr. Al Qubaisi wished the Ambassador all the best in her future missions and acknowledged her efforts in improving ties between the two friendly nations across numerous fields.
