Noura Al Suwaidi, Director of the General Women’s Union, GWU, has described the theme, 'Women are Partners in Giving', chosen by H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, as an honest reflection of the UAE’s values of giving, based on the vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the wise leadership that continues this blessed journey.
In her speech, on the occasion of Emirati Women’s Day, she said that H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak has always guided Emirati women in their professional journey, taught them how to raise their children with superior values, and created awareness on the need to lead their families into the future.
Al Suwaidi stressed that the ‘Year of Giving’ initiative is a reflection of the UAE’s values of giving and tolerance, which have been promoted throughout history, and particularly since the establishment of the Union. She highlighted that this programme completes the initiatives launched by the wise leadership to serve humanity.
She further added that H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak’s decision to celebrate Emirati Women’s Day on 28th August confirms her keenness to honour women for their achievements and ensure they enjoy all the rights guaranteed to them to assure they lead prosperous lives.
She concluded her speech by urging all authorities in the UAE to participate and help make this celebration a success.
