UMR Research today released the Happiness of New Zealand report, which reveals whether females are happier than males, what region is happiest, what occupations are happiest, and where their money really does seem to make people happier. The Happiness of New Zealand is the first of two reports examining happiness in New Zealand. UMR\'s Happiness Drivers, which looks at why people are happy, will be released later this week. Highlights of Happiness of New Zealand include: West Coast/Buller, Northland, Timaru/Oamaru are the happiest regions while Marlborough is the least happy. Females are still happier than males. Older people are happiest. Retirees and homemakers are the happiest occupations. Widow(er)s and married people are happier than divorced and single New Zealanders. Those living without children are happier than those living with children. \"There is clear evidence that the Rugby World Cup buoyed the country with several of the highest results this year recorded in September/October. The low point, on the other hand, occurred in May,\" UMR Research Director Gavin White said monday.
