Even though today's men are rolling up their sleeves and helping their better halves with more domestic chores, there's still division between the genders when it comes to laundry. Seems like laundry is still women's work as a new UK survey has revealed that a fifth of British men don''t know how to use their washing machine. The findings emerged in a study of 3,000 people conducted by energy giant npower, which uncovered the household appliances that are hardest to use. Many men admitted that they could not put on a basic washing load while 11 percent claim to be 'unable to operate' an iron. In addition one in 10 believed that they wouldn''t know how to use the cooker or oven. "It's incredible to see that stereotypes still prevail in some households with men confused by washing machines and cookers in the kitchen," the Daily Mail quoted Joan Coe, a spokesperson for npower hometeam, as saying. Meanwhile, the study revealed that women are less comfortable working electrical appliances and gadgets in the home. Just over a fifth of said they are left baffled when attempting to use wireless routers, having no idea how to a manage Internet connections or even switch it on. Four in 10 women - compared to a third of men - say items such as the family games console and the DVD player leave them perplexed.
