Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of Development and International Co-operation and President of Zayed University, has said that the decision of the wise leadership to establish the Ministry of Development and International Cooperation supports the achievement of the UAE in the global arena of philanthropy and the unification of the efforts of Emirati agencies and institutional donors for development and foreign humanitarian aid. In a meeting organised by the Ministry for its employees, she praised the support given to federal institutions by the country's wise leadership in the process of strengthening the performance of Federal Government. Sheikha Lubna thanked all the leaders and Ministry staff for their efforts and cooperation in the past year through teamwork, whereby it has completed the requirements of incorporation and of drafting a document laying out the ministry strategy, vision, mission, values and its strategic objectives for the period 2014 - 2016 Sheikha Lubna said that the ministry has made great strides in building its systems and programmes, both administrative and financial, as well as recently gaining the approval of the Council of Ministers for the UAE to join the Development Assistance Committee of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. She also hailed the establishment of the National Committee for the Coordination of Humanitarian Foreign Aid and noted that as a result of its humanitarian generosity, the UAE has been ranked as top donor nation with the Development Assistance Committee of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.
