Mariam bint Mohammed Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of Social Affairs, headed the country's delegation to the 31st meeting of the Council of GCC social affairs ministers, which opened yesterday in Kuwait.
The meeting discussed a host of topics related to the joint GCC action in the areas of social affairs, including social welfare, family, children, youth, people with special needs, non-government organisations, GCC cooperatives and aged people.
Al Roumi said the GCC countries were seeking to improve their rankings in the international development index through provision of welfare, development and commitment to human rights.
