Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan met today with Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of Sharjah Investment and Development Authority, Shurooq, in Amman.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the importance of a high quality education for children, and the positive role that reading plays in building and developing children s intellectual capacity.
Sheikha Bodour, who is the patron of the U.A.E. Board on Books for Young People, UAEBBY, and Head of the Organising Committee of Knowledge Without Borders, KWB, spoke about her initiatives to promote reading.
The Sharjah delegation is to make a field visit, co-organised by UAEBBY and KWB, to the Emirati-Jordanian camp of Syrian refugees in the Kingdom, which aims to support refugee children. UAEBBY and KWB has set up various activities in the camp, including the opening of a 3,000-book library.
