H.H. Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairperson of the General Women's Union (GWU), Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Honorary President of Red Crescent Authority (RCA) has donated funds for an ongoing initiative by RCA to provide school bags for orphaned students in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Sheikha Fatima's most recent donation is aimed at supporting RCA's sponsorship of 4500 orphans in 25 areas in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Dr. Maytha bint Salem Al Shamsi, U.A.E. Minister of State, handed over the financial donation to Hamdan bin Musallam Al Mazrouie, Chairman of the Board of Directors of RCA, during her visit to agency's head office.
In implementation of Sheikha Fatima's initiative, RCA's office in Sarajevo distributed school bags to orphans in the cities of Mostar, Gorazde, Banovice, Lukavac, Zivinice, in Tuzla Canton towns inclduing Gradiska, Gracanica, Srebrenik, Bijeljina, and in Sarajevo suburbs including Vogosca, Kalesija, and others.
Minister Al Shamsi noted that Sheikha Fatima's initiative for Bosnian children emanates from her keen interest in improving the humanitarian conditions of the Bosnian people as well as in strengthening the children's ability to continue their education.
On his part, Mr. Al Mazrouie said Sheikha Fatima's support has always been instrumental in consolidating RCA's local and international humanitarian role as well as in consolidating the agency's values in the society in the service of its goals.
Secretary-General of RCA, Mohammed Ateeq Al Falahi, said Sheikha Fatima's recent initiative will enable a qualitative leap in the services offered to orphans in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
