Abu Dhabi Technology Development Committee(TDC) has called all UAE based talented individuals, home-based Do It Yourselfers (DIYers), makers and tinkerers from across the science, technology and engineering spectrum to register online at www.innovator.ae for the opportunity to display their home-grown projects and creations at the upcoming INNOVATOR Show and benefit from one of six development funds on offer.
INNOVATOR Show, to be held at the Corniche-East Plaza from March 5th-6th, aims to promote a do-it-yourself (DIY) culture amongst innovators in the UAE and encourage the inner 'maker' in everyone. Open for entrants from across the community, TDC is urging all interested parties to sign up online before the closing date of 19th February 2015.
"INNOVATOR Show is an annual event that showcases and celebrates the local innovators and role models supporting building the UAE innovation culture. It offers an unmatched opportunity for everyone who has built, created or even just drafted a project to display their ideas, share best practices with other innovators and learn new techniques. As last year, there will be free-to-attend professional workshops and signature innovators to help inspire and motivate participants and attendees," said Majid Al Mail, Senior Manager and head of INNOVATOR Program and INNOVATOR Show.
Al Mail continued: "I urge all budding innovators to sign up and be part of The Show. There is a wealth of home-grown talent in the UAE; The Show allows us to celebrate our creativity as a nation and as individuals." Following the success of last year's inaugural event, the INNOVATOR Show returns with a broader program; including signature innovators, workshops, interactive demonstrations and even more home-made projects from UAE Innovators.
The Show forms an integral part of INNOVATOR Program, an initiative recently launched by TDC, to nurture innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship within the UAE Community; the aim is to develop human capital in the Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) sector, a crucial element in the realisation of the Abu Dhabi 2030 vision to build a knowledge-based economy and in support of the National Innovation Strategy 2021 which aims to make the UAE amongst the leading nations in innovation.
INNOVATOR Show offers an exciting interactive idea exchange and peer-to-peer learning platform that connects creative individuals, institutions, firms, hobbyists and special interest groups, commercial exhibitors, students and visiting families.
Open to all 'DIYers' interested in showcasing their creative projects, The Show encourages attendees to share their experiences and network with like-minded enthusiasts. All participants will have the opportunity to benefit from one of six development funds. "The Best Project Fund" of which there are 5 different categories, will be judged by an expert panel and based on various merits and set criteria, whereas "The People's Choice Fund" will be an open category voted by event attendees and INNOVATOR Show peers. Recipients of each fund will benefit from a one-off monetary fund of Dh 10,000 as well as receiving guidance and support from the INNOVATOR Show team on the day.
INNOVATOR Show is organised by the Abu Dhabi Technology Development Committee with Intel as 'Gold Sponsor-INNOVATOR Program', The Municipality of Abu Dhabi City as 'Community Partner' and Abu Dhabi Media Company as 'Media Partner'.
