GITEX Technology Week 2015
Dubai - Arab Today

Dubai Internet City (DIC), part of TECOM Group, is the lead industry partner for GITEX Technology Week 2015, playing a key role in the conference for the16th consecutive year, and highlighting its commitment to the UAE's ICT industry and also promoting Dubai as an innovation-led economy.

At the core of GITEX 2015 is a focus on innovation and the rapidly evolving Internet of Everything, and DIC has partnered with leading organisations and entrepreneurs to showcase innovative technology across the Internet of Things (IOT), robotics and drones on its pavilion. This includes a partnership with Oculus for the latest VR gaming, with Digirobotic for a unique game of chess with robots, and a foosball table powered by the Internet of Things.

As part of its commitment towards enabling business success across Dubai, DIC will unveil its new logo at GITEX, which reflects a more modern and vibrant community and a high tech ecosystem; a thriving ICT hub.

Dubai Outsource Zone (DOZ) will also be launching its new identity, and will be known as Dubai Outsource City (DOC) from 18 October. DOC's new dynamic brand identity represents it renewed focus on driving the growth and development of the outsourcing, shared services and business process sectors across the Gulf and the Middle East.

In its role as a recently named strategic partner for Smart Dubai, DIC will also host the finals of the Dubai Smart City App Hack at its stand on October 20th. An esteemed judging panel which includes representatives from Dubai Internet City, Dubai Smart Government, Qualcomm, Ericsson, the ICT Fund, Flagship Projects, Khayarat, Optimix Ventures and MasterCard, will select a winner, who will be awarded an all-expenses paid for trip to Barcelona, to pitch their app at the Smart City Expo next month.

The Assembly, which brings stakeholders of smart communities together within a Smart Lab located within in5, will also exhibit alongside DIC at GITEX, and technopreneurs will have access to technology and devices to build software around smart and futuristic services, including 3D printing, robotics, drones and wearable devices.

Majed Al Suwaidi, Managing Director of Dubai Internet City and Dubai Outsource Zone said, "Dubai Internet City and Dubai Outsource Zone have been successful business communities for over 15 years, and our new brands reflect a refreshed commitment towards championing industry growth, fostering innovation and nurturing creativity. The activities on our stand that are taking place over the course of the week are testament to this commitment, and we hope to engage the tech community, as well as empower entrepreneurs and start-ups."

"GITEX provides an excellent platform for industry leaders as well as young talent and entrepreneurs to share ideas and gain knowledge and insight into the technology sector, and it was 16 years ago that Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum announced the creation of Dubai Internet City.
