Director of Iran's Trade Promotion Organization Hamid Safdel says the value of the country's exports of technical and engineering services exceeds USD four billion. “In 2009, Iran undertook technical and engineering projects worth of USD 2.7 billion across the globe and it is expected that the figure will set a record of more than USD 4 billion this year,” Safdel said at a trade conference in Tehran on Saturday. The official went on to say that over the past ten years, Iranian companies have undertaken 366 technical and engineering projects, mostly in the roads and construction sector, with the estimated value of USD 1.5, IRNA reported. Safdel added that Middle Eastern and Latin American countries have been markets for Iran's technical exports. According to Safdel, Iran's GDP is USD 876 billion and the value of the country's foreign trade reaches USD 137 billion.
